MARRIAGE
We believe in the importance of marriage and we
are delighted to welcome couples to Church who would like to
get married.
Legally we can only marry
people where either the Bride or the Groom lives in the Parish
(or is on the Electoral Roll of the Parish). |

BAPTISM,
THANKSGIVING & DEDICATION
Many
people ask about having their children Baptised (Christened)
in Church. We are delighted to welcome families to Church for
this purpose. Please ask the Vicar for a leaflet that
describes all the services we offer in greater detail and
explains the practical process.
Do contact the
Vicar to discuss the arrangements.

Marriage after Divorce.
Everyone hopes
that marriage will be for life, but sadly some marriages
don't always work. At St. Bartholomew's we recognise that
sometimes there are good reasons for a marriage to
end and in time those concerned may wish to have a ‘new
start' with a different partner.
When this
is the case it is best to discuss the matter directly with
the Vicar. In brief, our policy reflects the guidelines
issued by the Church of England in that we would be happy
to explore re-marriage if the following criteria could be
met. |
1) The legal
conditions (above) are met.
2) The
current relationship is not the cause of the first
marriage(s) to breakdown.
3) Any
children from previous marriages are being properly cared
for both financially and emotionally.
4) That a
significant time has elapsed between the breakdown of the
first marriage.
5) That
couples are prepared to participate in an ALPHA course
prior to their marriage. |
