What's
it all about?
Sanctum is a district church of the
North Wingfield Team Parish, part of Derby Diocese in the Church
of England.
We meet on a Sunday evening at 5pm in
a purpose built centre called "The St Barnabas Centre" after the
church which previously stood on the site. More about how we got
here in the history section of this site.
Sanctum is Church, OK so maybe there
is a rock band instead of an organ, maybe there are a few freaky
looking people walking around, maybe there is a few freaky
people leading, maybe the preaching is a bit different, maybe we
don't have all the answers, maybe we haven't got a clue what we
are doing half the time, maybe sometimes we do...
Sanctum is about worshiping our God:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Journeying together towards him.
Learning to be his light in our community: network, cultural,
local and worldwide. It is about taking responsibility. It is
about knowing we are loved and sharing that love extravagantly.
It is about learning together whether old in faith, new in faith
or not even sure what we believe yet. Read our Vision Statement.

Services |
What happens? Services at
Sanctum can be a little unpredictable. There is
no set form and there is variety within each
service but we try to follow a pattern of focus
on a monthly rotation as follows:
1st Sunday of the month - Communion 2nd Sunday
of the month - Music and Sung Worship
3rd Sunday of the month - Teaching 4th Sunday of
the month - Liquid learning and worship
5th Sunday of the month - Fellowship and
community
5pm each Sunday at the
St Barnabas
Centre

Groups |
Being Together As well as the
usual small groups/home groups/cells (whatever
you want to call them) youth and children's
groups, there are a variety of organised and
impromptu reasons for us to get together. We
encourage our members to do things in the
community alongside other members of the
community who are outside of the church. We
resource with volunteers a community youth
activities night with the local community
development officer, members of the congregation
run the local pre-school at the centre, we are
involved with the police and social services
developing community initiatives. We have a
wealth of musical talent within the congregation
and we are in the process of setting up a rock
school. We have had a number of successful band
nights in local night clubs with young up and
coming bands alongside our not-so-young or
up-and-coming "Fire Fly" and "Exoria". |
